Whenever the General Election may be called, ALDC has a range of templates for you to use to produce your Royal Mail Election Communication.
Every candidate in a parliamentary seat is entitled to an Election Communication. This is a free Royal Mail delivery, paid for by the government. You just have to pay the costs of printing (and delivery to your Royal Mail Sorting Office if you ask the printer to do this for you).
The candidate is entitled to either deliver an unaddressed item to every home or an addressed item to every elector. You cannot mix and match between addressed and unaddressed options. The same elector cannot receive two pieces of literature from the same candidate.
ALDC and Election Workshop have teamed up provide a print and delivery service for your Election Communication.
Election Workshop is not the only provider, particularly for unaddressed solutions, and our templates can be used on Affinity Publisher to create literature to use through any printer. You may also choose to print and organise the addressed or unaddressed mailings yourself, be aware that taking an addressed mailing in house (stuffing, labelling, organising and choosing splits) is a difficult and time consuming organisational task, as a result we rarely recommend this, if you do make the decision to do it yourself, we recommend that you speak to a member of our staff in advance to help with the planning and talk through the potential issues.
It may also be perfectly sensible not to use the Freepost in a General Election in your area at all, in fact this is often the case. Freeposts cost money, which dependent on the date of the General Election may be better spent fighting the next set of local elections. They also take up a lot of time, which may be better spent supporting a target seat so the party can build and target your area in the future. If you have any queries about the pros and cons of doing a Royal Mail Freepost (Election Address) during the General Election then please call or email our advice line and we can help lay out the options.
You can choose from our templates for a 6 Page Flying Start (addressed or unaddressed), a Postcard (addressed or unaddressed) or an addressed Letter and Insert.
There are a vast number of page options that you can switch and choose between to tailor your literature to suit your campaign. Check out the templates below.
To get through the Royal Mail vetting process for Election Communications both Election Communication and Constituency Name must be written on the front page of your artwork in at least 10pt font. This is the case on all of our templates.
