ALDC and Lib Dems for Electoral Reform (LDER) work closely together to provide resources and updates on the fight for voting reform in UK elections.
We recently shared a campaign pack with literature templates, press releases, emails, briefings and a vote calculator allowing you to add together the wasted votes in your area at the last election.
You can find the Voting Reform Campaign Pack here.
Below is an update by LDER from the Sort the System event at Westminster on 24 May 2023:
“On Wednesday 24 May, Liberal Democrats travelled from across the country to call on their MPs to support proportional representation for Westminster.
It was fantastic to see so many of you at the Sort The System event!
In the morning, we were well represented at the Emmanuel Centre rally by Cllr Hina Bokhari AM who fired up the crowd: click here to hear how (sound on📢!)
After speaking with constituents, Liberal Democrat MPs gathered in Parliament Square to lend visible support to the cause: our Party is unequivocally committed to electoral reform. #SortTheSytem was the most-used hashtag among Liberal Democrat MPs on the day! ♥️
A number of our Prospective Parliamentary Candidates joined them, including Bobby Dean who is looking to win back Carshalton & Wallington from the Conservatives at the next General Election and who addressed the Emmanuel Centre crowd in the afternoon.
We were also delighted to chat to so many Liberal Democrat activists at our lunch at Wesley’s Cafe. Welcome to our new followers and thank you to our co-hosts from Young Liberals!
It was great to have the support of Christine Jardine MP in rallying so many members through her piece in Lib Dem Voice.
In case you missed it, take a look at our photo album from the day.
Many thanks to all those who make a donation to fund our photographer for the day.
If you’d like to make a contribution towards the work of Liberal Democrats for Electoral Reform then we’d be very grateful: https://lder.org/en/donate
With your support we can continue to ensure that the Liberal Democrats are at the centre of the campaign for fair and equal votes.”
