The Zero Hour campaign calls for local councillors to support the Climate and Ecological Emergency Bill that is currently on its passage through parliament.
This bill calls on the UK to take responsibility for its share of greenhouse gas emissions and commit to emission levels that keep the world in line with the 1.5 degree temperature rise set out in the Paris agreement. It also calls for the active restoration of biodiverse habitats and halting practices that cause ecological harm.
The Bill is supported by the Liberal Democrat Party and all Lib Dem MPs
The Zero Hour campaign has produced a template Council Motion that can be found here.
Zero hour has also produced a Councillor Declaration that can be signed here to indicate your support for the bill. They are having a big push to get Councillors to sign before 1 May 2022.
It would be great to have as many Lib Dem councillors signed up as possible. It will help you demonstrate your commitment to the environment locally and nationally.
ALDC has also produced a quick template press release for you to use to publicise that you have signed the declaration. This can be downloaded here.
Cllr. Shelley Bromley says
