**APPLICATIONS FOR G8 IN 2022 ARE NOW CLOSED**
We want to help you elect more Liberal Democrats in May 2022!
G8 is the party’s funding scheme to help with campaigning in local elections, with the aim of getting more Liberal Democrats elected in 2022.
The deadline for applications is TOMORROW – 4pm on Thursday 11 November.
This year’s G8 is being used to support local campaigning by providing two free direct mail drops to key voters in your ward – in England this must be to your “squeeze” group. The letters will be produced by our print partners, Election Workshop, and delivered by Royal Mail to voters in early February and early March 2022.
Please note that G8 is only for elections to principal local authorities, so cannot be used to support local authority by-elections, mayoral elections or parish/town/community council elections. There is a separate fund for areas with parish-level elections in 2022. Please contact Chris Twells on chris.twells@aldc.org for more details.
ENGLAND AND WALES
G8 will pay for two items of direct mail to be delivered to targeted voters in your ward in 2022. We will provide templates and can also provide artwork support and help with your data.
The full criteria for wards in England and Wales:
- G8 funding can only support council candidates who have been formally selected, via your local party’s approval and selection process.
- The G8 Committee will prioritise teams who have used the summer months to knock on doors/make phone calls to gather voter ID data on Connect. In England the Committee is looking for data showing significant “squeeze” pools of third and fourth party voters.
- The seat must be a realistic gain, or in some circumstances a ‘difficult defence’.
- G8 will support a maximum of two wards per council area, or 10% of seats up, whichever is greater.
