I started as the Development Officer for Wales on the 17th August and it’s been great spending the last few weeks ‘meeting’ many of you and learning about local government needs in Wales.
I come from a training background and have been active in the party for a number of years, campaigning and supporting others to win. I’m also a local councillor in Somerset, so I understand first-hand the process of becoming a councillor and the challenges that local government can present. I’m very much looking forward to helping the Welsh Party train volunteers and elect more councillors in 2022.
While we are moving out of lockdown and towards the Senedd elections in 2021 it’s a great opportunity to learn new skills and make a local impact in order to build the profiles that we need to get people elected as local councillors in 2022. We have a huge opportunity to increase our presence on local councils all over Wales, but we need your help to do that.
New Chief Executive for Wales – Claire Halliwell
It’s really exciting to be working under Claire Halliwell, who is the new Chief Executive for Wales. Claire comes from an excellent background of political success and will be leading a new team of staff, including staff working on Policy, Press, Digital and Campaign management. Claire has worked in the past for both ALDC and the Federal party and is used to bringing people together to achieve the best for the party. There is a real impetus from this new staff team to succeed and get more people elected in Wales.

A crucial time
As more and more candidates are selected for the Senedd elections in May 2021, this is a crucial time for starting to build up our volunteer base and profile ready for the local elections in 2022. I would encourage you to get involved.
