Responding to new analysis by leading children’s charities which reveals funding available for children’s services has fallen by a third per child in England since 2010, Cllr Lucy Nethsingha, Lib Dem Spokesperson for Children and Young People’s Services, said:
“Children’s social care is facing a country-wide cash crisis, with nine in 10 councils spending more than they planned to last year. While the report notes that these cuts have affected different areas in different ways, it is clear that all councils are now finding their budgets under enormous pressure as a result of the ongoing children’s care cash crisis.
“The report rightly highlights that councils have worked hard to protect vulnerable children and families from the full scale of cuts, with spending on children’s services falling far less than the funding available from government.
“But the analysis also demonstrates the real impact that these funding cuts are having on communities across the country, with councils all too often forced to cut the early intervention services which can help children avoid needing more serious and costly care later on.
“It is vital that the Government heeds the consistent and increasingly urgent warnings that children’s services are now at a tipping point, and uses the upcoming Spending Review to deliver a long-term strategy that enables councils to meet the growing need for support from some of the most vulnerable children in society.”

Martyn John Gape says
What i have read above is very true the early intervention from children's services might have saved my grandson from going into the adoption proses.
But please don't forget the grandparents who have an important roll to play.
We are Grandparents that the system has failed we have had two carers assessment undertaken on us both had a negative result the second was directly associated with the first and is written that way.
The second assessment is so misleading to a court especially seeing how i gave my personal information to the assessor that states who was responsible for the crimes committed that i now stand accused of there were allegations made agents me in a past relationship that the assessor turned into facts on paper false accusations by the assessor etc.
When we tried to complain the red tape and time that has been wasted trying to find the right department to voice our concerns to is a joke
The family court would not let us be party to proceedings the child's social worker would not look at the evidence we have to support our clime CAFFCASS wont look Social Work England don't want to know my case got to stage two and the member of staff dealing with my case left there enrolment the director of children's services and all staff below them wont look into this matter.
Only one of the above has been prepared to talk to me over the phone even when i have requested call back from them.
Our MP tells me they cant get involved the police cant look the judge wont answer any emails and i have nowhere to tern
The child services in the UK needs reform and to be more transparent
if you could help me with this i would be grateful.
There are thousands of family's in the UK that have suffered treatment like this and it needs to be stopped people need to be treated fair and there are hundreds of children in the care system unnecessarily and this has an impact on the whole family grandparents mums dads brothers sisters aunts uncles etc.
