The District Councils’ Network (DCN) Member Board has established a Housing Task and Finish group to sit alongside the existing DCN work-streams.
The purpose of this Task and Finish Group is to ensure the DCN is able to clearly articulate their core positions regarding housing policy changes and effectively influence the development of the secondary legislation of the Housing and Planning Act.
Key priorities for this group are to:
- Identify the key policy housing issues that will adversely impact on District Councils as a result of recent changes such as the Housing/Planning/Welfare reform in order to develop the DCN’s core policy positions.
- Determine how Districts Councils can best fulfil their statutory duties whilst balancing the financial impacts of the 1% rent reduction on both stock holding and non-stockholding Councils, the introduction of an LHA cap and the temporary accommodation costs set against the backdrop of increasing homelessness and the likely changing nature of the future supply of affordable dwellings.
- Develop solutions and seek to work with DCLG in partnership moving forward. A copy of the report can be found here.
