Only 24 hours to go
All election expenses and agents declarations for the May 22nd principal council elections must be submitted by close of play on Friday – 27th June for elections declared after midnight. This if for “nul” declarations as well as for those where money was actually spent.
Within 7 days of submitting the return – The Returning Officer must receive the candidate’s declaration (though usual practice is to submit these forms at the same time).
Friday 27th June 2014 – Election return and agents declaration to be received by the Returning Officer.
Within 7 days of submitting the return – The Returning Officer must receive the candidate’s declaration (though usual practice is to submit these forms at the same time).
Where the candidate is his own agent he still needs to submit the return within the same time as if he were an election agent.

Sanctions
An election agent or a candidate who fails to comply with the provisions as to returns is guilty of an illegal practice which would disqualify him/her from standing in future elections amongst other sanctions.
Where the candidate is out of the United Kingdom when the agent’s return and declaration are delivered, he may make his declaration within 14 days of his return, but the agent should not wait until his candidate comes back before making his return, otherwise he will render himself liable to the penalties of an illegal practice.
