ALDC is currently looking for a “Regional Rep” in each of the 10 Lib Dem party regions in England (Scotland and Wales already have elected representatives on the ALDC Management Committee).
This is a voluntary role (unpaid), but ALDC will reimburse expenses. We are doing this to help ensure that we are well connected with Regional Parties in England, and have a good presence at regional events.
The job is:
- Act as a ‘champion’ of ALDC in your region – help us keep in touch with members and recruit more members and more group members. We’ll put your details on our website and we’ll be hoping that you can use your contacts to feed in members’ views, and give us ‘leads’ for recruiting new members and especially new group members.
- Help ALDC keep good links with the Regional Party in each region acting a 2-way link between the two. Ideally, we would like you to be a ‘correspondent member’ of a Regional Party Exec (i.e. read and receive the papers), help us ensure that we’re working well with the Regional Party and making good use of their communications.
- Attend Regional Conferences and other key regional events as an ALDC rep. We’re expecting to have a small ‘team’ at each regional conference (our Development Officer, peers from the LGA, and the regional rep) – so together you would be able to run a simple stand, recruit members and speak to activists. ALDC would be able to pay for your registration at the event.
The only requirement is that you are willing to help us achieve the above – and that you are an ALDC member.
This is an appointment rather than an election for a two year period initially.
If you are interested please get in touch with Tim Pickstone (tim.pickstone@aldc.org) with a few details of how you think you might be able to undertake this role. We’re hoping to make a decision in late July, so if you are interested please get in touch before 20 July 2012.
