DNO form issue with some returning officers (RO)
We have had several queries from members about Returning Officers refusing to accept the description ‘Liberal Democrats’ saying that as it is not on the list on the Electoral Commissions website.
‘Liberal Democrats’ is the parties official name and the Electoral Commission website shows the variants that are allowed for Liberal Democrats to stand under along with ‘Liberal Democrats’.
If you are using the DNO form supplied by ALDC or the party showing the following as allowed names:
- Liberal Democrats
- Scottish Liberal Democrats
- Liberal Democrat Focus Team
- Scottish Liberal Democrats Focus Team
- Nick Clegg’s Liberal Democrats
- Liberal Democrats – for a fairer Britain
- Liberal Democrats – for a greener Britain
- Liberal Democrat
The top one is the parties name and the others are the allowed variants. If after explaining this, your RO is still refusing to accept this please ask them to contact:
